Monthly UW Web Accessibility and Usability Meetup

These monthly meetups provide an opportunity for UW web developers and designers to discuss accessibility and usability issues in a relaxed, casual setting, and provide friendly feedback on one another’s web projects. We encourage you to bring your accessibility questions or just join us to see what others are working on.

  • Audience: UW web developers and designers
  • Schedule: 4th Tuesday of each month, 11:00am – Noon, on Zoom.

STEM Community Conversations CoP (Monthly)

Hosted by partners from UW Bothell, UW Tacoma, and UW Seattle, this informal networking series focuses on conversations, updates, and tips for digital accessibility in STEM-oriented courses. Accessible STEM and math are a challenge across disciplines, and in these informal conversations practitioners meet and learn from one another.

  • Audience: Faculty and instructors at all levels across the UW community, instructional designers, learning technology staff, and librarians.
  • Schedule: 3rd Tuesday of each month, 3:00 – 4:00pm. Our next meeting is on Tues., Jan. 20

Workshops and Trainings

Summer 2026 Accessibility POP (Progress over Perfection) Sessions

Do you feel like you have no time for accessibility training? POP sessions are 60-minute interactive workshops, each focusing on one particular accessibility topic or skill. Each session consists of instruction (15-20 min.); practice and question time (30-min.); and final reflection.

This summer, why not make a mid-morning cup of tea or coffee and join a fun and collegial accessibility training session with your peers?

Audience: All members of the UW community, regardless of role or skill level.
Schedule: Select Wednesdays during Summer Quarter, on Zoom from 11 am to noon

Course Accessibility Lunch & Learns (Monthly)

Join us again in Autumn 2026 for the return of our monthly Lunch & Learns. We’ll continue to hear special guests from across the UW community talk about various tools and topics related to course accessibility. There will be something for everyone!

Audience: Instructors at all levels, TAs, Faculty Support Staff, the UW community
Schedule: The first Tuesday of the month, on Zoom from noon to 1:00 pm.

Collaborative Accessibility Problem-Solving (CAPS) Meetup (Monthly)

Join colleagues for this informal networking series with other faculty support partners across the UW system for collaborative problem-solving. We’ll talk about challenges we face and how we can support faculty in accessibility efforts in the coming academic year.

  • Audience: Faculty support staff across the UW community, instructional designers, communications staff, learning technology staff, administrative staff, librarians
  • Schedule: This meetup is currently on hiatus and will reconvene in August. An updated schedule will be posted over the summer.

Digital Accessibility Liaisons Community of Practice (Quarterly)

Join the Digital Accessibility Liaisons, a Community of Practice of colleagues who are excited to learn more about digital accessibility and to build their own skills so they can share what they learn with their units. Among other activities, they meet as a group several times per year for training and discussion. For more information, see the Digital Accessibility Liaisons page.

  • Audience: Open to everyone in the UW community, all skill levels.
  • Schedule: Quarterly. Dates for AY 2026-2027 will be announced in August.

  • To join the Liaisons CoP: Send an email to itaccessliaisons@uw.edu requesting access, and you will be added to the Digital Accessibility Liaisons workspace in Microsoft Teams. Recordings of the meetings and the slide decks are posted for Digital Accessibility Liaisons community in the Teams channel.

UW-IT Accessible Technology Services (ATS) has offered webinars on a variety of topics, such as teaching an accessible online course, web accessibility, document accessibility, video accessibility, testing with screen readers, and accessibility in procurement.
